INTRODUCTION
Hong Kong is located in the Far East, just south of the Tropic of Cancer. Hong Kong Island is 32km (20 miles) east of the mouth of Pearl River and 135km (84 miles) southeast of Canton. It is separated from the mainland by a good natural harbour. Hong Kong Island was ceded to Britain in 1842 by the Treaty of Nanking; and the Kowloon Peninsula (south of Boundary Street and Stonecutters Island) in 1860 by the Convention of Peking. The area of Boundary Street to Shenzhen River and a group of 260 islands, now known as the New Territories, were leased to Britain in 1898 for a period of 99 years.

WEATHER AND CLIMATE
Hong Kong's climate is sub-tropical, tending towards temperate for nearly half the year. During November and December there are pleasant breezes, plenty of sunshine and comfortable temperatures. Many people regard these as the best months of the year.January and February are more cloudy, with occasional cold fronts followed by dry northerly winds. It is not uncommon for temperatures to drop below 10 C in urban areas. The lowest temperature recorded at the
Observatory is 0 C, although sub-zero temperatures and frost occur at times on high ground and in the New Territories.

When to Go
The best months to visit are during March to April and October to November, when humidity is low, the skies are clear and the temperature is warm.Winter can be cold, but most days are mild.

CULTURE

The cultural life of Hong Kong people is more colourful than you think.Apart from local movies and pop songs, they love reading, whatever the kinds of books ranging from popular local sentimental love novels to philosophy of Western and Oriental;from fashion magazines to books about traditional arts.Classical music of Western and traditional Chinese genres are being listened by many, and a great number of book.

PLACES OF INTEREST
Hong Kong Island
Hong Kong Island is the glitzy big brother of Kowloon a tightly packed, towering paean to market capitalism that hasn't been dented one jot by Chinese rule. The bustle of people living and working is the biggest attraction on the island, although many visitors head around to Aberdeen, on the southern side of the island, where 6000 people live or work on junks anchored in the harbour.Sampan tours of the Aberdeen Harbour are definitely worth the expense. Theother major draw is the floating resturant.

Hong Kong Disneyland
Disneyland, a place usually associated with kids, is also a place for adults who grew up with Disney cartoons. It’s hard to resist the Disney magic that you feel as soon as you step unto the resort grounds. This collection of Disney Pins features the world famous Disney Characters. Some of the pin designs were specially created for Hong Kong Disneyland, the newest Disney Theme Park.
